We were all shocked to hear that our beloved shemeji Chachage passed away last night. He was the Professor of Sociology at the University of Dar es Salaam, and he had served as Associate Dean at the department. Professor Chachage has also taught at the University of Cape Town, held many positions of distinction and served on the editorial boards of several journals. He has published extensively on Sociology, and is a well renowned Swahili language novelist. Our deepest condolences go out to Demere, Chambi, Rehema and Mkunde.
